Getting started
Install Qartvelo Guard from WordPress.org or a ZIP file and open the setup wizard.
Qartvelo Guard runs on WordPress 6.0 or newer with PHP 7.4 or newer. It works on single sites and on multisite networks. Installing it takes a minute; the setup wizard that opens afterwards takes about three.
Install it from WordPress.org
The WordPress.org listing is waiting for review. Once it is live:
- In your WordPress admin, open Plugins > Add New Plugin.
- Search for Qartvelo Guard.
- Press Install Now, then Activate.
Install it from the ZIP file
Until the listing is live, or if you prefer a file, download the ZIP. Every version is published on GitHub releases with its SHA-256 checksum.
- Download qartvelo-guard.zip. Do not unpack it.
- In your WordPress admin, open Plugins > Add New Plugin and press Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP file, press Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
With WP-CLI you can do the same in one line:

Activation creates the plugin's database tables, saves the default settings (the Balanced level) and creates a private data folder for held files, wp-content/uploads/qartvelo-guard/ in a folder with a random name (older installs are moved there automatically). Every administrator account that exists at that moment is put on the trusted list, so your own accounts are not reported.
On the next admin page you open, WordPress takes you to the setup wizard once. This does not happen when you activate several plugins at once or when the wizard was completed before. If you leave the wizard, a notice called "Finish setting up Qartvelo Guard" reminds you, and you can open the wizard again at any time from Qartvelo Guard > Setup Wizard.
Where to find it
The plugin adds a menu called Qartvelo Guard with four pages:

When something waits for you, a count appears on the menu and a notice lists how many uploads, installs or files are waiting, with a Review now button.
Your first day
- Run the wizard to the end. Its baseline scan fingerprints the files you have now, so later scans only report what is new or changed.
- Upload a test image. With the Balanced level it waits on the Reports page until you allow it; this is expected.
- If your site gets many uploads from visitors or authors, read Protection levels before you go live.
